Wallingford’s Proton OnSite said it has received follow-on orders for 17 oxygen-creating electrolyzer cell stacks from UTC Aerospace Systems.
The U.S. Navy uses the stacks to produce oxygen on its submarines.
The company did not disclose the financial terms of the purchases, but said UTC has placed “multi-million-dollar orders” over the past two months.
The 17 stacks — to be delivered over the next several years — are in addition to 22 previously delivered stacks. They will be used in the Navy’s Virginia Class submarines, which are being built by Electric Boat in Groton, as well as French and British fleets.
