United Technologies division UTC Aerospace Systems said its Aerostructures business has opened a new facility in Toulouse, France dedicated to its Airbus A350 XWB contract.
Aerostructures will use the facility to produce thrust reversers and integrate nacelle systems for the Airbus planes. The building contains a 50,000-square-foot robotic production area for thrust reversers as well as a paint shop with an infrared curing tunnel and office space.
The company said the facility will allow it to ramp up production as the A350 XWB enters service later this year.
Nacelles are the aerodynamic structures that surround a plane’s engines.
