United Technologies Corp. subsidiary UTC Aerospace said it has signed a contract to supply wheels and carbon brakes for Russian airline Aeroflot.
UTC will supply the parts for Aeroflot’s new fleet of 50 Boeing 737-800 aircraft. The parts will be provided from a UTC facility in Troy, Ohio.
The company said the parts are made from a carbon heat sink material, which saves approximately 700 pounds of weight per aircraft compared to steel brakes.
