USJ introduces majors in medical, computer, sports fields

The University of St. Joseph in West Hartford said Monday it is introducing five new undergraduate majors in computer science, health science, sports management and bioinformatics.

Set to begin this fall, the disciplines include computer and data science; a general track and pre-physician assistant studies track in health science; sport management and promotion; and bioinformatics.

The various new majors will prepare students for careers in such fields as computer programming and computational data mining, work as a physician assistant, biology, mathematics and statistics, said Provost Michelle Kalis.
