Manchester manufacturer Lydall said a senior executive from one of the nation’s largest steel producers will take over as its chief executive next month, as Dale G. Barnhart, CEO for the past 12 years, retires.
Lydall, a manufacturer of specialty thermal/acoustical and filtration/separation products, said Sara A. Greenstein will assume her new role on Nov. 18. The Illinois-based executive has been at U.S. Steel, a publicly traded manufacturer with over $14 billion in net sales last year, since 2014. She most recently led U.S. Steel’s consumer solutions business unit, which has more than 4,000 employees across eight facilities.
Prior to that, she worked for 12 years at Underwriters Laboratories, a safety science company.
Barnhart has been Lydall’s CEO since 2007. He intends to remain on at Lydall into next year to ensure a smooth transition, the company said.
“Sara’s record of driving sustainable profitability and creating innovative solutions in a manufacturing environment makes her ideally suited to serve as Lydall’s next President and CEO,” Lydall’s chairman Marc T. Giles said in a statement.
Greenstein said Lydall is well-positioned for long-term, profitable growth.
“The opportunity to join the Lydall leadership team and serve alongside more than 3,300 talented Lydall employees worldwide as the company’s next President and CEO is a great honor,” Greenstein said. “Lydall is synonymous with quality and continuous innovation and improvement, that brings value to customers around the world.”
