U.S. sees falling home prices

Home prices across the nation are down about 1 percent from a year ago, and about one percentage point from three months ago, according to Internet price tracker Zillow.com. The company did not break down home price changes in the Hartford area, although homes in the Pittsfield, Mass. area – less than 80 miles from Hartford – saw prices decline nearly 9 percent, making it one of the most depreciated areas in the country. Homes in the Northwest bucked that trend, with some areas showing double-digit appreciation. Homes in the Gulf Coast area showed the steepest drops.
