UPS to hire more than 1,300 Hartford-area seasonal workers

The Hartford area will see an influx of more than 1,300 seasonal jobs as UPS has announced it will be hiring workers in time for the holiday rush.

UPS said about 80% of the positions do not require an interview process. In most cases, the company said, applicants can fill out an online application that usually takes less than 30 minutes to complete. Applicants should go to UPSjobs.com.

“We have made our hiring process as easy as possible,” said UPS Executive Vice President of U.S. Operations Nando Cesarone. “UPS’s strength has always been our people, and we are excited about the opportunity to welcome new UPSers to our team as we deliver what matters for our customers this holiday season.”

The company said seasonal package car driver positions begin at $21 per hour and tractor-trailer driver posts begin at $35 an hour.

UPS said the nearly 35,000 seasonal employers used last year during the holiday season nationwide earned permanent positions.

UPS said a full-time package delivery driver makes an average of $95,000 per year, plus an additional $50,000 in contributions to health, wellness, and pension benefits. UPS drivers earn about $42 per hour after four years on the job, the company said.
