UPS Inc. has adopted a plan to reduce the carbon emissions of its air fleet by 20 percent by 2020.
The world’s largest package delivery company said it plans to achieve the goal by investing in more fuel-efficient aircraft and jet engines, finding more ways to conserve fuel and introducing biofuels.
Atlanta-based UPS’ planes account for 53 percent of the company’s total carbon emissions, according to senior vice president Bob Stoffel.
UPS has a total of 263 aircraft, making it the ninth largest airline in the world. It transports an average of 2.1 million packages and documents by air each day. (AP)
