Upbeat CT designer JCJ hires, moves offices

Hartford’s JCJ Architecture, pacing what it says is growing demand for space designers in certain sectors, is ramping up hiring and moved several of its U.S. offices to better position itself.

JCJ announced Tuesday the hiring of five senior project managers and design principals, along with the relocation of its design studios in Boston, New York and San Diego.

JCJ President Peter Stevens said in a statement that his firm is seeing clients “move projects from the discovery to execution phase in an economic climate of growing consumer optimism and improving credit markets.”

JCJ has seen its project workload rise nearly two-thirds from the same time last year, Stevens said. The biggest demand is in hospitality, education and civic sectors.

Among its office moves, JCJ’s Boston office relocated from 330 Congress St. to a loft at 319 A St., in the center of the city’s transportation hub.

In New York City, JCJ moved from the Empire State Building to a 3,000-square-foot space on the 14th floor of 2 Grand Central Tower at140 East 45th St., near Grand Central Terminal.
