Univ. Of New Haven receives $75K to train paramedics

The University of New Haven has received a $75,000 grant to purchase equipment to train paramedics.

The funding, from the Connecticut Health and Educational Facilities Authority (CHEFA), will fund the  purchase of high-fidelity simulators, which are computerized interactive life-sized manikins.

The simulators permit students to practice treatment on “patients” who have undergone trauma.

The project will allow the University of New Haven to provide an advanced training environment for about 300 individuals each year, including students studying emergency medicine and practicing paramedics who need to update their skills.
