UnitedHealth Group Inc., with operations in Hartford, is getting a second chance to win a $17 billion Department of Defense contract to administer health benefits to soldiers in 21 western states, The Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal reports.
UnitedHealth had lost its bid for the six-year contract in 2009 to TriWest Healthcare Alliance in Phoenix, the paper said on its web site.
But Minnetonka-based UnitedHealth said in a statement Thursday that the DOD had agreed to put the contract back out for bids because of a flawed selection process.
A new deadline for proposals has not been set.
