UnitedHealth aids in R.I. flood relief

UnitedHealth Group, with operations in Hartford and New England, is offering Rhode Island flood victims help refilling prescriptions and disaster relief aid.

Its UnitedHealthcare, Ovations, AmeriChoice, OptumHealth and Prescription Solutions units are participating in the effort, UnitedHealth Group said.

UnitedHealth said individuals who have been displaced or lack access to their medications, who call and identify that they have been affected by the floods, will be able to have prescription medications filled if they have refills remaining on file at a participating retail or mail-order pharmacy.

The policy is effective immediately through April 14.

In addition, UnitedHealth opened a free, 24-hour counseling line — 866-342-6892 — to all Rhode Islanders. It also donated $30,000 to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund.
