United for a Cause

More than 60 employee volunteers from United Technologies Corp. participated recently in Jumpstart 2009, a training event held at Saint Joseph College for 200-plus volunteers who will coordinate fundraising campaigns at more than 900 workplaces across Connecticut this fall on behalf of the United Way Community Campaign. For more than a decade, Hartford-based UTC and its employees have been the largest donor to the annual fundraising campaign for the United Way in Greater Hartford, accounting for about one out of every four dollars raised. Since 1994, UTC employees and the company have given almost $100 million to the United Way. The United Way Community Campaign is a joint effort of United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut and Community Health Charities of New England. Pictured are the employee volunteers.
