United Financial president Sullivan quits

Recently formed United Financial Bancorp said Monday that its president J. Jeffrey Sullivan has resigned.

Sullivan, who is also a member of the Glastonbury bank’s board of directors, is leaving to pursue “other professional interests,” the company said Monday.

United Financial Bancorp was formed out of the recent merger of Rockville Bank and West Springfield’s United Bank. The company has its headquarters in Glastonbury and is led by Rockville Bank’s CEO William H.W. Crawford IV.

Prior to the Rockville-United merger Sullivan was United Bank’s chief operating officer and the former head of commercial banking. He also served as executive vice president and chief lending officer of the bank until November 2012.

United Bank said it has no plans to fill the president position. Also, no decision has been made to fill the vacant seat on the board of directors.

Meantime, the bank also announced that Dena M. Hall of Westfield, Mass. has been promoted to Western Massachusetts regional president and Michael T. Moriarty of West Springfield, Mass. will be executive vice president, Western Massachusetts commercial banking executive.
