Connecticut’s unemployment rate ticked down from 6.7 percent to 6.6 percent in July, as the state gained 2,400 jobs, the Department of Labor said Friday.
It was the sixth consecutive month of job gains for the state.
Connecticut’s unemployment rate is down from 7.9 percent a year ago. Connecticut has recovered 64 percent of the 119,100 it lost during the 2008-2010 recession.
Labor officials also revised upward June’s initial job estimates, from 1,700 to 2,200.

The manufacturing sector led job gains in July, adding 1,000 positions. Construction, other services, and leisure and hospitality each added 800 jobs. The Hartford labor market area added just 100 jobs over the month. The biggest job loser was state government, which shed 900.
