Uline will hold a hiring event Saturday as it prepares to open its new 1.2 million-square-foot Plainfield distribution center in November.
The family-owned distributor of shipping, packaging and industrial supplies is recruiting warehouse associates for day and night shifts at the facility.
The hiring event will take place from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 12, at 113 Plainfield Pike.
The positions will pay between $26 and $34 an hour, depending on the shift and experience. New hires are also eligible for a $5,000 bonus, according to the company’s job posting.
Benefits include health insurance and a 401(k) with a 6% employer match starting on the first day of employment, along with paid time off and tuition assistance for continuing education. The facility will have an on-site fitness center.
Day shift associates work Monday through Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., and night shift associates work Sunday through Thursday from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., with overtime available on both. The jobs require a high school diploma or equivalent and the ability to move packages weighing up to 70 pounds and operate warehouse equipment at heights up to 30 feet.
The distribution center is expected to employ about 200 people initially. Uline has previously said the workforce could eventually grow to 500 employees.
The company had initially planned to begin operations in July but now expects the facility to open in November.
The Plainfield building will serve as Uline’s New England hub, replacing a distribution center in Allentown, Pennsylvania, that has supplied the region. Sites in Massachusetts and Providence, Rhode Island, were also under consideration before Plainfield won out.
Uline said it recently surpassed 10,000 employees across 15 North American branches and 17 sales offices.
