UConn’s Hogan out as president

UConn President Michael Hogan has resigned to take the same position at a major university in the Midwest.

According to NBC Connecticut Hogan met with officials at the University of Illinois and Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn Tuesday, and accepted the job as president of the University of Illinois.  He’ll begin his new gig in Illinois in July.  His resignation from UConn is effective June 30.

“It’s with a degree of sadness that I’m leaving, but I can do so knowing that we’ve accomplished many of the goals that the Board of Trustees set out for me when I began my term as UConn’s president three years ago,” Hogan said in a prepared statement.
