Organizers for the NCAA champion UConn women’s basketball celebration in Hartford have succeeded in raising $55,000 to cover the costs of the 2016 championship parade and rally on Sunday from a variety of local businesses.

The parade will step off at 1 p.m. at the Connecticut State Capitol Building and will be followed at approximately 1:30 p.m. by a rally on Trumbull Street in front of the XL Center.

The following businesses are contributing funds to the 2016 celebration: Webster Bank; Mohegan Sun; The Travelers Companies Inc.; Eversource; CT Lottery; The Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection and Insurance Company; Bank of America; Moe’s Southwest Grill; ProHealth Physicians; The Hartford Financial Services Group, Inc.; Aetna; Frontier Communications; Virtus Investment Partners; and SNY.

As in past years, this event is produced by the Hartford Business Improvement District in collaboration with the State of Connecticut and the City of Hartford, and a number of civic and business organizations.

Parade and rally organizers raised the $55,000 in private donations and business sponsorships in two days to finance the festivities. No state or city funding is used.
