Fresh off his team’s 12 national championship victory, UConn women’s basketball coach Geno Auriemma on Tuesday morning rang the opening bell of the New York Stock Exchange.
Auriemma was joined at the podium by UConn President Radenka Maric and other local dignitaries.
The Huskies in April won their 12th national championship by defeating the South Carolina Gamecocks 82-59 at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida.
It was the UConn women’s first NCAA championship since 2016.
Auriemma’s presence didn’t provide much of a jolt to the market. As of 11:37 a.m., the New York Stock Exchange was trading in the red, down slightly by less than 1% to 19,285.65.
