UConn to start spring semester fully remote; delays student move-in date

Citing the sharp rise in COVID-19 positivity rates, the University of Connecticut has announced it will conduct courses online for the first two weeks of the spring semester and delay the period for students to move onto campus.

While the university announced that classes will resume Jan. 18 as scheduled, they will be held online until Jan. 29. In addition, the new date for students to move to campus will be pushed back to the weekend of Jan. 29.

UConn also said it will soon be requiring that eligible students receive booster vaccinations.

According to the latest COVID-19 data from the office of Gov. Ned Lamont, made available Thursday afternoon, the state’s daily positivity rate stood at 20.33% with 1,151 Connecticut residents hospitalized with COVID-19-related symptoms.
