The University of Connecticut’s Board of Trustees announced Wednesday the school will be increasing student fees in fiscal 2023 to help cover the rising costs of services.
The plan includes a $268 increase for mandatory fees that pay for health, transit and student activity services.
There will also be a $364 increase in dining and housing rates.
The university said fee-funded expenses at the institution have grown 18%, but that the fees paid by students to support them have increased only by about 4%.
The university said the changes will take effect beginning with the new fiscal year on July 1. The changes do not affect the five-year tuition plan adopted in 2019 for fiscal years 2021-2025.
Here’s a breakdown of the various fee increases:
- The general university fee will go from $1,380,to $1,474
- The student health services fee will go from $636 to $686
- Infrastructure maintenance fees to go from $468 to $558
- Technology fees from $150 to $174
- Transit fees, excluding the UPass rate increase, will go from $168 to $178
- Dining fees will go from $6,020 to $6,186
- Housing fees will go from $7,238 to $7,436
