UConn is set to break the ground Tuesday for the new $35 million basketball development center just days after its women’s team earned the record-tying eighth NCAA title, The Associated Press reports.
The 78,200 square-foot facility in Storrs will feature practice gyms for the men’s and women’s basketball programs, along with locker rooms and coaches’ offices. It also will include areas for academic support, video analysis, sports medicine and strength training.
Those scheduled to attend include UConn President Susan Herbst, Athletic Director Warde Manual, basketball coaches Geno Auriemma and Kevin Ollie. Former UConn and NBA Player Donny Marshall is also expected to be on hand.
