UConn School of Engineering announces new cybersecurity bootcamp program

The University of Connecticut School of Engineering and its partner Trilogy Education have announced the formation of a six-month online cybersecurity bootcamp that will cater to working professionals.

UConn’s engineering department said it is now accepting applications for the first cohort of participants, who will begin May 24.

The six-month program will consist of three live instructor-taught online courses a week. Participants will learn concepts in defensive security, offensive security, and systems administration, among others, and receive a certificate upon completion of the program.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of cybersecurity professionals is projected to grow 33% over the next 10 years. In addition, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics also reports that in 2020, on average, cybersecurity professionals earned an annual salary of $103,000.
