UConn receives $750K from KPMG to fund endowed accounting professorship

The University of Connecticut School of Business has established an endowed accounting professorship backed by a $750,000 contribution from KPMG LLP.

University officials said the funding will support efforts to recruit and retain faculty in the accounting department. The endowment meets the university’s minimum threshold required to create a named professorship.

Accounting professor George Plesko, who leads the department, has been named the first recipient. His research focuses on corporate tax policy and financial reporting. He previously taught at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and has held roles with the U.S. Treasury.

The announcement was made during an event at the Graduate Business Learning Center in Hartford attended by university and KPMG representatives.
