The University of Connecticut, R/GA Ventures and CTNext announced a multi-year initiative Wednesday to identify startups working in the areas of climate change and sustainability.
The three entities will launch the Future Climate Venture Studio, whose goal is to identify and accelerate startups.
The collaboration will offer those startups financial capital and networking connections to business strategists, technologists, designers and consultants.
The chosen climate change and sustainability startups will have a focus on alternative energy, planetary resilience and decarbonization.
UConn President Radenka Maric said the state’s flagship university offers expertise in all dimensions of climate science and research through its School of Engineering; College of Agriculture, Health and Natural Resources; College of Liberal Arts and Sciences; and climate and renewable energy research at its Avery Point campus.
R/GA Ventures is a New York City-based startup accelerator.Â
CTNext is a state agency dedicated to public-private partnerships to help boost the state’s innovation ecosystem.
