Congressman Joe Courtney announced today that a $46,285 federal grant will help defray costs for nursing students at the University of Connecticut.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services awarded the grant to UConn’s advanced education nursing traineeships program to alleviate pupils’ education costs.
 “As the husband of a nurse practitioner, I know first-hand how important nurses are to our hospitals and overall health care system,” Courtney said. “We need more high-caliber nurses to enter the field and this grant will help to achieve that goal.”
