UConn’s School of Nursing said it has received a $2.3 million pledge to establish its first endowed faculty chair.
The gift, from Robin Froman and Steven Owen, was announced last week. The money will also support a professorship and research at the nursing school.
It’s the nursing school’s largest gift to date.
Froman received her bachelor’s degree from UConn in 1984 and went on to earn a master’s degree and doctoral degree there as well. She later served as a faculty member, establishing the Center for Nursing Research in 1991.
Owen is a professor emeritus of educational psychology at the Neag School of Education.
Both Froman and Owen later moved on to positions with the University of Texas.
