UConn names new Stamford campus director

A longtime University of Connecticut administrator has been named director of its Stamford campus, The Associated Press reports.

Sharon White’s appointment was announced Wednesday following a national search for a leader of the campus, where more than 1,700 undergraduate and graduate students attend classes.

White joined UConn in 1980 as coordinator for the Stamford branch’s Center for Academic Programs, and has been interim campus director for the past year. She holds degrees from UConn and Columbia University and completed a higher education management fellowship last year at Vanderbilt University.

UConn vice provost Douglas Cooper says White has developed strong links with Stamford-area leaders, and that her work has helped bring in donations for scholarships and improved campus life for faculty and students.
