Who says the weatherman is always wrong?
UConn environmental engineers have developed a computer model that Connecticut Light & Power is using to predict where it will likely need to deploy maintenance workers and resources in a storm, the two revealed.
CL&P used the tool to predict the location of Connecticut trouble spots during Hurricane Sandy. The UConn model was pretty close, predicting 13,330 trouble spots. CL&P ended up recording 14,338.
CL&P is working with UConn to further refine the tool, but said it plans to use it at its subsidiaries in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
