An estimated 45,000 people descended on downtown Hartford Saturday to attend the victory parade for the UConn men’s basketball team, which won its fifth national championship last week.
A sea of people could be seen on Trumbull Street and other downtown thoroughfares during the parade, which stepped off at 11:30 a.m. at the state Capitol building and immediately was followed by a rally on Trumbull Street in front of the XL Center.
This event, which provided a boost to local restaurants and other merchants, was produced by the Hartford Business Improvement District, in collaboration with the state, city of Hartford, and civic and business organizations.
