UConn fundraising campaign surpasses $800M, crosses halfway mark

The University of Connecticut Foundation has raised more than $800 million toward its $1.5 billion fundraising goal, marking the halfway point in the university’s most ambitious campaign in its 144-year history.

The foundation crossed the milestone Nov. 26, driven by donor contributions to the “Because of UConn” campaign that was publicly launched in April, according to an announcement from the foundation.

The campaign aims to fund student scholarships, research initiatives, healthcare programs and athletic facilities across UConn’s campuses.

Donors have contributed more than $320 million for scholarships and fellowships, providing over 29,000 awards to students since the campaign began. Another $337 million has gone toward academic programs and research facilities.

The campaign has also raised more than $83 million for health and wellness initiatives at UConn Health, which provides 1.3 million patient visits annually.

An additional $184 million has been directed to athletics and regional campus programs.
More than 240,000 gifts have been recorded, with 90% totaling less than $1,000, according to the foundation. The campaign has reached 77% of its community engagement goal, with 9,000 volunteers participating.
