UConn athletics extends IMG partnership in $93M deal

UConn announced Wednesday it inked a 15-year extension worth up to $93 million for IMG to continue as its exclusive multimedia partner through 2033.

The extended deal maintains IMG’s exclusive rights to carry all UConn multimedia, including podcasts featuring Geno Auriemma, radio deals with iHeartMedia Hartford’s 97.9 ESPN and the upcoming launch of the women’s basketball sponsorship platform noting the team’s 11 NCAA Division I championships.

Under the extended agreement, originally forged in 2008, IMG College will continue serving as the exclusive representation of the corporate partner program and commercial business for UConn athletics.

IMG will also continue managing UConn’s trademark licensing program through 2033. School officials said the program has generated over $17 million in licensing royalties since it began partnering with IMG College Licensing in 1986.

“For the past decade the partnership between IMG and UConn has generated impactful revenue that directly benefits our athletics teams and we are pleased to extend the relationship through 2033,” said David Benedict, UConn’s director of athletics.

“This agreement provides a unique revenue sharing model, which will positively impact our bottom line and help support our pursuit of graduation and championships,” Benedict said.
