Busted smartphones, tablets and computers can now get fast repairs at the newest outpost of uBreakiFix, which opened this week in Hamden Plaza.
The repair chain opened in a storefront at 2100 Dixwell Ave., Suite 214, not far from outlets for national chains T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless and GameStop.
Based in Florida, uBreakiFix promises to repair everything from drones and hoverboards to “vintage arcade games and light-up Christmas sweaters.”
The Hamden store is owned by Fairfield County residents Chris Laraia and Steven Gardner, who also run uBreakiFix stores in Norwalk, Stamford and Shelton. The pair plans to continue expanding into New Haven and Hartford County, according to a news release.
“We’re thrilled to finally have a location that is convenient to our valued customers in this area. We hope to be a trusted tech repair resource for residents and businesses here, as well as students, faculty and staff from the area’s colleges and universities,” Laraia said.
To celebrate its grand opening, uBreakiFix Hamden is offering half-priced screen protectors and $5 off all accessories through Nov. 30.
uBreakiFix has grown from a single storefront in Orlando, Fla., to more than 700 locations across the U.S. and Canada. Technology company Asurion acquired uBreakiFix in 2019 and it now operates as a subsidiary.
Now under major construction, Hamden Plaza announced earlier this year the opening of a large DSW shoe store in a site formerly occupied by Dress Barn and a series of buffet restaurants.
Starbucks is also planning a drive-through coffee shop for the frontage along Dixwell Avenue.
