Two more CT Borders bookstores closing

Borders is closing two more Connecticut retail bookstores on top of the six it previously planned to shut, the attorney general says.

Attorney General George Jepsen said Friday two more Borders retail stores in Connecticut — in Fairfield and Stamford — will close by late May, in addition to ones it said would close by April 30.

Closing sales are now underway at 1499 Post Road in Fairfield Center and in the Grand Central Fashion Plaza at 1041 High Ridge Road in Stamford, ending no later than May 31, he said. Merchandise is being sold “as is” at those stores.

Closing sales are continuing at the Danbury, Manchester, Milford, Simsbury, Southbury and Wilton stores. Borders Group, Inc. said last week that it had designated 28 more stores to close,

Jepsen warns consumer that, as with the prior sales, Borders gift cards, Borders Rewards Plus Loyalty Program discounts, Borders Bucks and merchandise credits will be accepted during the closing sales and at Borders stores that will continue to operate.
