Voters will get another look at Hartford’s mayoral candidates over the next week during two debates, including one to be held Thursday night.
FOX61 News is slated to host and stream the Capital City’s fifth mayoral debate Thursday at 7 p.m., airing live on the station’s website, Facebook page and the Fox61 News App.
The station said the mayoral debate will also be replayed Sunday at 10 a.m. as part of a special one-hour edition of “The Real Story and Real People with Stan Simpson.”

Thursday’s debate stage is set to include four Democratic candidates: Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin; Former Mayor Eddie Perez, who resigned as Hartford’s mayor in 2010 after being convicted on bribery and extortion charges; State Rep. Brandon McGee, who represents Hartford and Windsor; and television entrepreneur J. Stan McCauley.
FOX61 said it’s seeking debate questions from the public through its various social media platforms.
Bronin, the city’s 67th mayor who is seeking a second term, and challengers Perez and McGee will face off again in a debate on Thursday, Sept. 5 at 7 p.m. jointly hosted by News Channel 8 (WTNH-TV) and the Hartford Courant. It will air live on New Channel 8 and streamed on WTNH’s website and on the Courant’s Facebook page.
The two debates come ahead of the Democratic Primary on Tuesday, Sept. 10, which will include Bronin, Perez and McGee. McCauley is running as an independent and has received a party endorsement from the Hartford Republican Town Committee.

At least two other candidates are also expected to be included on the bottom of the Nov. 5 general election ballot after submitting nomination petitions to qualify, according to the city clerk’s office.Â
They include author and entrepreneur Aaron Lewis and Giselle Gigi Jacobs, who previously ran failed attempts for Hartford’s mayoral seat and another as a state representative for the seventh House District encompassing Hartford. Jacobs is currently the owner/operator of Sister Soldier LLC.
There are just over 70,000 total registered voters in Hartford, the clerk’s office said.
