Two Hartford firms win $22K in city, sci. center grants

A Hartford heating-cooling specialist and a local web designer are getting nearly $22,000 in grants from the city and the Connecticut Science Center to promote their respective projects devoted to applied science, technology and innovation, authorities say.

Aztech Engineers Inc. gets $15,000 to refine its prototype for a convection closed loop geothermal heat pump, officials said Tuesday.

Open Wire Lab will use its $6,730 grant to promote online interconnectivity.

The grants are through the Hartford Business Development Grant for Innovative Entrepreneurs.

The 2012 awards program is funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and administered by the Connecticut Science Center.
