Two CT Innovations-backed bioscience companies join forces in M&A deal

Farmington-based Intus Biosciences recently acquired Pattern Genomics in a deal made possible with the help of Connecticut Innovations, an investor in both companies.

Intus is behind technology called “Titan-1,” which helps researchers and healthcare professionals test the human microbiome.

One’s microbiome includes all the microbes that live inside and on the body. It helps regulate the immune system, digest food and defend against infection. Problems with the microbiome can lead to an array of adverse health effects, from allergies to obesity to mental health issues, according to Intus.

Intus provides research and commercial services worldwide to the pharmaceutical, diagnostic and testing industries.

Pattern Genomics, founded in 2011, develops genomic analysis software, which allows for DNA sequence analysis.

The two companies have a long history of collaboration. Intus anticipates the deal will enhance its portfolio for microbiome research and evaluation.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
