Turkish Airlines handed East Hartford jet-engine builder an early Christmas present and its largest order of the year, with its firm order for at least 184 of Pratt’s geared turbofan engines to propel its incoming fleet of Airbus jetliners, Pratt says.
Turkey’s flag carrier affirmed an earlier tentative order placed with Pratt at last spring’s Paris Air Show for PurePower engines to power 92 Airbus A320neo twin-engine planes that also are on order, Pratt announced Thursday. Deliveries are set to begin in 2018.
Financial terms weren’t disclosed.
Pratt said Turkish Airlines’ PurePower order is the engine-builder’s largest in 2015.
To date, Pratt counts about 7,000 orders, including options, with more than 70 airline customers from more than 30 countries.
