Charles M. Turkelson has joined the Connecticut Joint Replacement Institute at St. Francis Hospital (CJRI) as director of health economics and outcomes
research.

Prior to joining the CJRI, Dr. Turkelson was senior research director at the Center for Medical Policy Technology in Baltimore. At CJRI, He will oversee the Research Department, including The Total Joint Registry, which has more than 13,000 patient records.
Before that, he served as director of the Department of Research and Scientific
Affairs at the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, where he was responsible for collecting and analyzing healthcare statistics and worked on surveys and its census.

Turkelson is a nationally recognized researcher who has experience in outcomes/comparative effectiveness research, evidence-based medicine, implementation of clinical practice guidelines, economic modeling and advanced statistical techniques.
