A past administrator at a number of Connecticut colleges is a finalist to fill the president’s role at Asnuntuck Community College in Enfield, Connecticut State Colleges & Universities announced.
Michael Rooke, dean of academic affairs at Tunxis Community College in Farmington, will visit Asnuntuck’s campus this week. He has a doctorate in analytical chemistry, and moved from Connecticut to England in the 1990s, working for the University of Hartford.
He returned to Connecticut in 2006 after a stint in New York, to direct Manchester Community College’s business and technologies division.
He transferred to his current role at Tunxis in 2009.
If he’s hired, he would replace Interim President James Lombella, who was appointed following former President Martha McLeod’s retirement in July 2013.
