The alliance gives Saxe Doernberger & Vita an international footprint as it serves policyholders with insurance disputes across borders.
A Trumbull-based law firm that helps businesses resolve disputes with their insurance companies is expanding internationally through a combination with firms in Europe and Asia.
Saxe Doernberger & Vita announced this week that it has joined with Fenchurch Law, Wesolowski Abogados, CLIR & Fenchurch and affiliated firms to create SDV Fenchurch. The combined organization has more than 90 lawyers working in the United States, United Kingdom, France, Spain, Denmark, Norway, Turkey and Singapore.
The firms represent policyholders — the businesses and organizations that purchase insurance — rather than insurance companies. They advise clients on insurance contracts and help them pursue payments when claims are denied or disputed.
The new organization is structured as a Swiss verein, a model commonly used by international professional-services firms. It allows the participating law firms to share a name and coordinate their work while remaining separate legal entities in their respective countries.
SDV founder Tracy Saxe and Fenchurch Law founder David Pryce will serve as chairs of the combined firm. Financial terms weren’t disclosed.
The firms said the combination is intended to serve companies whose insurance policies, operations or claims involve more than one country. Their clients operate in industries including construction, energy, financial services, real estate and transportation.
The combined firm said it is considering further expansion in the United States and other international markets. It lists U.S. offices in Trumbull, California, Florida, Massachusetts. New Jersey and New York City.
