Trinity Health of New England has named a Detroit healthcare executive as president and CEO of the recently formed regional system, which counts St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center as its flagship.
Dr. Reginald J. Eadie was most recently chief operating officer at Detroit Medical Center, a seven-hospital, Tenet-owned regional system in Michigan. Prior to that role, he led several of the system’s hospitals as CEO.
Eadie, who will start work March 26, succeeds Christopher Dadlez, the longtime leader of St. Francis who assumed the leadership role of Trinity’s New England region after Michigan-based Trinity Health acquired St. Francis in 2015.
Dadlez announced last August that he would step down at year’s end.
Trinity Health exec Roger Spoelman has been serving as interim CEO since Dadlez left.
Kevin J. O’Connor, who chairs the Trinity Health of New England board, said Eadie’s selection was the result of a national search.
“Dr. Eadie’s successful senior executive leadership and particular expertise in hospital integration and transformation over the past ten years made him a compelling choice to lead our health system,” O’Connor said in a statement.
Benjamin Carter, executive vice president at Trinity Health, called Eadie “a steadfast champion for better care, better quality and lower costs in U.S. health care.”
Eadie earned his medical degree from Wayne State University and is certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine. He also has an executive master’s degree in business administration from Michigan State University and a bachelor’s degree in biology and chemistry from South Carolina State University.
Besides St. Francis, the Trinity Health of New England system includes Mount Sinai Rehabilitation Hospital in Hartford, Johnson Memorial Hospital and Home & Community Health Services in Stafford Springs, St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, Mercy Medical Center in Springfield, Mass., Providence Behavioral Health Hospital in Holyoke, Mass., Weldon Rehabilitation Hospital in Springfield, and Brightside for Families and Children.
