Trinity Health joins in statewide vaccine education and administration effort

Hartford’s Trinity Health of New England will team up with two other state health systems to educate residents about the upcoming COVID-19 vaccine campaign.

Trinity joins Yale New Haven Health and Nuvance Health ‒ which runs hospitals in New Milford, Danbury, Sharon and Norwalk ‒ in an effort that mobilizes clinical leaders to provide community education and coordinated care.

Infectious disease specialists, nurses and laboratory staff will go into cities and towns to explain the vaccination program, dispel misinformation and help with dispensing vaccines. Educational efforts will prioritize at-risk residents and vulnerable populations

Once available, the COVID-19 vaccine will be given in access centers, pop-up clinics, and mobile units statewide in addition to traditional medical settings.

“This partnership will allow each of our health care organizations to combine all our resources together in order to provide the very best care for all of our communities across the state of Connecticut,”  said Trinity President and CEO Reginald Eadie.

New technology

Trinity Health of New England also announced this week that it had implemented a new remote monitoring system in its hospitals to protect patients at risk of falls and other dangers.

The AvaSure Virtual Monitoring Program transmits a continuous video feed of a patient’s room to a central location where the footage is monitored. Attendants speak to the patient or notify the patient’s care team if intervention is needed. The video is not recorded due to privacy concerns.

“Within the short period of time that we have been utilizing AvaSure, the technology has had a noticeable positive impact on patient outcomes,” said Trinity Health Of New England Regional Chief Nursing Officer Lisa Zapatka.
