Trinity Health Of New England has created a new president of acute care position, naming Dr. Robert Roose to oversee operations at four Connecticut hospitals.
Trinity Health Of New England this week announced it has appointed Dr. Robert Roose as president of acute care, a new position that formalizes his oversight of the health system's acute-care hospitals as it continues a leadership restructuring launched earlier this year.
Roose will oversee the strategic direction and day-to-day operations of St. Francis Hospital and Mount Sinai Rehabilitation Hospital in Hartford, Johnson Memorial Hospital in Stafford Springs and St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury, THONE announced this week.
Roose also will continue supporting Mercy Medical Center in Springfield during its planned transition to Baystate Health, pending regulatory approval.
The newly created position expands Roose's responsibilities following his appointment in April as interim president of St. Francis and Mount Sinai after the departure of St. Francis President Valerie Powell-Stafford during a broader leadership shake-up.
That restructuring also included the appointment of Dr. Steven Hanks as president and CEO of Trinity Health Of New England. Hanks succeeded Montez Carter in the dual roles; Carter left the organization on July 1. Roose now reports directly to Hanks.
Roose joined THONE in 2013 and has held several leadership roles, including chief medical officer and vice president of behavioral health at Mercy Medical Center. Most recently, he served as president of Mercy Medical Center, Johnson Memorial Hospital and St. Mary's Hospital.
