Trinity College has hired a former UConn official – who is now the dean of finance and administration for Harvard University’s Faculty of Arts and Sciences – as its next vice president and chief financial officer.
The liberal arts college announced Monday afternoon that it has appointed Scott Jordan to fill the vacancy created by former vice president and CFO, Dan Hitchell, who left for a position at Clark University in April.
Jordan begins in the new role on Aug. 14. He will join Trinity before the start of the fall semester, just over a month after its new president, Dan Lugo, took office on July 1.
“We are beginning to chart a course for Trinity’s next chapter, which includes enhancing the financial strength of the college,” Lugo said.
Jordan, who was selected after a national search, is a Connecticut resident.
At Harvard, Jordan led operations for a group of 3,000 staff members, focusing on finance, human resources, research administration, facilities, museums, animal care and educational support services, according to Trinity. He has been in the role since 2021.
Before that, he was executive vice president for administration and chief financial officer at UConn. He was responsible for UConn and UConn Health’s operating budgets, along with their buildings and grounds; human resources and labor relations; emergency operations; real estate; and the campuswide master plan.
Jordan previously spent two decades in public finance leadership roles for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, serving under five governors.
Jordan said that he was attracted to Trinity by the chance to join Lugo’s leadership team and the closeness of the community.
