A major clean-energy procurement coordinated by Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island needs more time to select winning bidders.
Two dozen bids were submitted early this year from solar, wind and transmission developers hoping to win the right to sell their power to utility companies.
The states had originally said they expected to select winning bidders no later than July 26. But on Monday, a website set up by environmental officials disclosed that the selections would take longer.
“Given the complexity of the analysis and the volume of bids, additional time is needed for evaluation,” the site said.
It’s not clear exactly how much extra time is needed.
Meanwhile, the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection is also in the midst of evaluating responses to two other energy RFPs that it is conducting solo – one for smaller clean energy projects (between two and 20 megawatts) and one for natural gas infrastructure.
