Travelers, Travelers Championship donates $1M to Hole in The Wall Gang Camp

Property-casualty insurer Travelers Cos, and the Travelers Championship golf tournament announced a joint donation of $1 million to  The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, an Ashford-based camp for children coping with cancer or other serious illnesses.

Travelers and the Travelers Championship are making the commitment following a fire that destroyed a number of buildings on the campgrounds on Friday. The Travelers Championship has donated to the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp for 14 years.

“After this devastating fire, the camp itself is in need of hope and healing,” Travelers CEO and Chairman Alan Schnitzer said. “The Travelers family is heartbroken for the kids and families who cherish the comfort, peace and refuge the camp offers.”

The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp was founded in 1988 by the late actor Paul Newman. It provides a free camp in Ashford, in addition to outreach efforts for children with serious illnesses throughout the Northeast and mid-Atlantic regions.
