The 2011 Travelers Championship will again generate more than $1 million for charities — nearly matching tourney champion Fredrik Jacobsen’s $1.08 million winner’s purse on Sunday, officials say.
Travelers Chairman and CEO Jay Fishman said the tourney contributes 100 percent of net proceeds to more than 130 local charities including The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp in Ashford, which provides an extraordinary camp experience for children suffering from cancer and other serious diseases.
Last year, the tourney returned $1.1 million to charities. This is Travelers’ fifth year as tournament sponsor.
The 2012 Travelers Championship will be held June 18-24 at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell.
