Donald J. Shepard, retired chairman and chief executive of Dutch insurer Aegon N.V., has joined Hartford life and property-casualty insurer Travelers Cos. as a director, according to a regulatory filing.
Shepherd, 63, was elected to Travelers’ board on Dec. 9 and will serve on its compensation, nominating and governance committees, the Securities and Exchange Commission filing said.
He retired as Aegon’s CEO in April 2008 after more than six years at the helm.
Specifics on Shephard’s compensation as a non-employee director will be detailed in Travelers’ 10K annual report filing on Feb. 19, the SEC filing said.
