Property and casualty insurer Travelers Cos. on Wednesday disclosed that it invested more than $1.5 billion in artificial intelligence and other technology initiatives in 2025, as the company expands its use of generative AI tools across its workforce.
Chairman and CEO Alan Schnitzer cited the spending in the company’s fourth-quarter and full-year financial results announcement, calling the initiatives “cutting-edge AI and other technology” investments.
The disclosure comes one week after Travelers announced a companywide expansion of generative AI assistants through a partnership with Anthropic, maker of the Claude AI model. Travelers said nearly 10,000 engineers, data scientists, analysts and other employees would gain access to personalized AI assistants tailored to their roles, building on internal AI tools already deployed across the company.
Travelers has been positioning AI as a key driver of productivity, including in software development and analytics. In the earlier announcement, Chief Technology and Operations Officer Mojgan Lefebvre said Travelers had already seen measurable improvements after rolling out personalized Claude assistants for certain teams.
The insurer has major operations in Hartford and is one of the region’s largest employers.
